Interview with Paisley Parc
Today we have an interview with Welsh alternative rock band Paisley Parc about their new single 'CD', which is full of high energy and great hooks meaning they are really an up and coming band you should be on the lookout for. I caught up with the band about their new single, and also about recording in a pandemic and their live plans for the year.
Hi guys! How are you doing?
We’ve been really busy writing songs, refining our set and getting ready to get back on the road.
How would you describe your sound to new listeners?
We’d describe our style as gritty, punchy, melodic and diverse.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Oasis, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics, Rage Against the Machine and Led Zeppelin.
Your new single ‘CD’ is full of high-energy raging guitar riffs and a really fun rhythm section, how did this song come together for you? Every song we write has a story behind it and this about young guys and their girlfriends out joy-riding and blasting out some CD’s in the car.
Did you face any challenges while writing and recording due to the pandemic? Obviously there were issues, but we feel we used the time well and instead of switching off we used the time to write more songs and to get our set as tight as possible so there is some good coming out of the Pandemic. Also when we had a few months out of lock down we went back in the studio and recorded a whole host of new songs that we are currently releasing across a range of radio, press and Spotify campaigns.
What was the main inspiration behind the lyrics for this song? Do you have a favourite lyric or line from the song?
It’s just something we think all 19 to 21 year olds can relate to and the fav line has to be “Shake the Car til the lights go out” :)
Is ‘CD’ a part of a bigger project for you guys?
It’s the first single off our upcoming EP “Long-Time Coming” which will be released later in the year. The EP will have 4 other tracks alongside CD called “This Way”, “Lost”, “Come Around” and “Take Control”. The tracks are pretty diverse and we hope they will appeal to a wide range of people and continue to increase our fanbase.
I really love the bouncing alternative rock energy brought to this song, and can imagine it would sound amazing live. Do you currently have any plans for shows now that things are starting to open up again?
We are headlining two upcoming festivals in Wales in the summer and with restrictions easing looking to book many more gigs this year to help promote the release of the EP plus allowing us to introduce the fans to our newest bunch of songs that are not planned for the recording studio until late November.
What’s next for Paisley Parc?
Glory!
And lastly, what music have you been listening to recently? Anything you can recommend to us?
We’ve been listening to a lot of Royal Blood, Foo Fighters, Wolf Mother, Florence black and the Black Keys.
