Foo Fighters - Livestream from The Roxy
Last night Foo Fighters held a livestream concert from The Roxy in LA with all the proceeds going towards the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. It was a night of straight up rock and roll (as they called it), a classic Foo Fighters show with hit after hit full of energy as you’d expect from them. Though it was from 1am local time here in the UK, it was definitely something worth staying up for. It’s not like I had anywhere to be the next morning, being a Sunday in lockdown.
This show to me really showed how tight knit the band and crew really are, even after 25 years, with Dave Grohl making all the roadies and camera crew sing the audience parts in My Hero and having his monitor engineer still with them even on a screen from Canada. Though he did almost forget to introduce Taylor Hawkins in the band introductions.
You could see that the whole band was enjoying playing again, the energy they all brought was great and they all looked happy playing. 2020 was supposed to be a big year for the Foo Fighters, it’s their 25th year as a band, they had a tour planned and the album was supposed to come out. But as we all know by now, 2020 had other plans. Dave Grohl then went on to say that the reason they wanted to do a livestream was to bring a little joy and happiness to us in these times, and if nothing else that’s what last night’s live stream definitely brought to me, even at 2am in my bedroom.
If you ever get the chance to see Foo Fighters live, livestream or not, then you definitely should. They are a band who know how to put on a show, and there’s never a dull moment while they’re on stage. It’s nights like last night that remind you of that, no matter where they’re playing there will be a good time.
Rock and Roll is here to stay.
