After Midnight x Radio Platfform: FOCUS Wales

Hello everyone,

It's been a busy few weeks here in the After Midnight camp. I was lucky enough to go to FOCUS Wales festival in Wrexham earlier in May with the incredible team at Radio Platfform to interview artists, broadcast live from the festival and of course, watch lots of bands.

I had such a great time at the festival, the sun was out and the welsh music community was thriving! It was so fun to be a part of all the festivities with Radio Platfform broadcasting live from the Old No 7 bar during the day. If you missed these live shows, you can find them here:

In these shows we recapped the bands we saw performing live, looked ahead to the bands we were excited about catching, played some live tracks and broadcast our interviews with artists at the festival.

I managed to have some great chats with the likes of Sleeping Together, The Pleasures, Winona Forever, Red Telephone, HAZMAT and Rebecca Hurn. I'm grateful to them all for taking the time out of their busy schedules to talk to me during the festival. These interviews will be uploaded separately to the blog over the next few days (hopefully!), so you can give them another listen!

I have also been busy planning the next few After Midnight Radio shows, where I will be playing tracks from my highlights of the festival, so keep an eye out on here or the After Midnight instagram for that!

It was my first time at FOCUS Wales (and in Wrexham) and I enjoyed every moment. There were so many amazing bands playing live, and great new music discoveries, but it was hard to choose who to go and see perform. Highlights for me definitely include Akine, HAZMAT, The Pleasures, Manilla Times, SHLUG, Waterpistol, Fat Dog, BLYTHE, Sleeping Together, The Garrys, The Family Battenberg, Rebecca Hurn, though I don't think I saw a bad performance all weekend.

Thank you so much again to the incredible Radio Platfform team and fellow presenters, Alan, Kathryn, Jason, Katie, Adam, Gareth and Becci - it was great to discover new music and Wrexham with you all.

That's all from me for now, but keep your eyes peeled for the interviews!

Until next time...
